Our first-ever royalty payouts will be hitting token holders’ dashboards next week! This will be the first time in history that a collective of fans receives royalties from artists.
In total, collectors will earn $36,000 in royalties across four songs.
Co-owners of ‘Ultra Black’ and ‘Rare’ by Nas, as well as ‘He’s Not You’ by Vérité, will be able to claim funds on Royal starting next Monday. Holders of ‘Worst Case’ by 3LAU will also receive royalties — that payout will be airdropped (since those tokens are on ETH mainnet).
There’s a paradigm shift happening in the music industry. Fans can now participate in music ownership by buying a piece of a song, album, or EP and earning royalties alongside their favorite artists. That ownership can be meaningful. Take, for example, 3LAU’s ‘Worst Case’ — those token holders have collectively earned nearly $20,000 (plus an additional $3,394.98 via airdrop earlier this year).
Streaming royalty payouts: July 25–28
Royalties will be paid out over the course of the week, following this timeline:
A few key things to note!
The power of music ownership
We founded Royal based on the knowledge that owning music rights is valuable. When songs stream more than they are forecasted to, artists win and collectors win. We believe this is one of the exciting parts of our platform — if you bet on the music you believe in, and you’re right, you can expect outsized royalty returns.
We’re stoked to have reached this milestone with our product and to distribute the first royalties of fan-owned music. We look forward to continuing to demonstrate the value of ownership. There’s so much more to come.
